During this tour you will take a stroll through Porta Carlo III, the only ancient gate still preserved, and Via dell’Indipendenza, the center of local commerce and the most characteristic street of Gaeta. It connects the old town to the modern areas, and it will bring you to the Church of Santa Maria degli Scalzi, a 17th century Baroque church that holds great importance for local mariners. Among the religious buildings included in this tour there are also the Church of San Giovanni a Mare, famous for its Arabic style clock tower; the Church of Annunziata, called the Gold Chapel for its magnificent portraits, and the Church of St. Francis, which stands out on the promontory thanks to its Gothic style and beautiful white facade.
