Tour Description

Explore the charming Orvieto and discover its art and history on this unique walking tour.

Follow your guide around the city center of Orvieto, through its narrow streets, and learn about its architecture while you enjoy the breathtaking view over the surrounding valley. You will visit the Duomo and hear the intriguing insights of our guide regarding its frescoes, statues and decorations. The visit includes the Chapel of San Brizio, which was added to the transept in the 15th century and features the icon of the Madonna of San Brizio.

Take a stroll through the medieval landmarks of this charming town, such as the 50-meters high Torre del Moro and the Pozzo of San Patrizio, a 58-meters deep well that is considered an engineering masterpiece. It was dug during the 16th century at the behest of Pope Clement VII, who escaped to Orvieto after the Sack of Rome. Thanks to this well the citizens could enjoy a stable water supply, as we can see from the Latin phrase inscribed over the entrance: “What nature stinted for provision, application has supplied”.

Come to Orvieto and discover its traditions and its rich cultural heritage with our top-rated guide!
