We spend two and a half hours on foot in the historic center of Naples, where street food and city history arrive one bite at a time. The walk opens at Piazza Dante and reaches Piazza Bellini, a square of lively evenings framed by ancient Greek walls, where a crisp tarallo and a sfogliatella filled with ricotta begin the tasting.

From Piazza Bellini we follow Via dei Tribunali, one of the oldest streets in the city, past churches, workshops, and small food counters. At a traditional pizzeria we taste a pizza margherita with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil, then a frittatina, the crisp fried pasta bite that Naples treats as a quick, honest snack.

We continue along Via San Biagio dei Librai, known to locals as Spaccanapoli, the narrow artery that cuts straight through the ancient grid of the city. Along the way we stop for a taste of limoncello from one of the city's oldest producers and for a caffè napoletano, the small, intense espresso that locals drink standing at the counter.

The walk ends at Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, where the church and the Obelisco dell'Immacolata stand in the middle of the UNESCO-listed historic center. We close with a selection of sweets and a gelato that sums up why Naples takes dessert seriously.
